Making Glitters

by Sandie

For this tutorial you'll an animation program. Go here for a free animator: Microsoft GIFAnimator

Firstly, you'll want to choose the image your using for a glitter. Im using this one of a maraquan hissi.

Using the magic wand tool, click on the white areas around the hissi and delete (make sure the hissi image is a layer, not a background, and if there is a white background underneath just delete it). If you want to add any text do so now.

Now holding down the shift button use the magic wand tool again to click on all the areas you want the glitter to be in.

Now go to filter/noise/add noise and a menu will pop up. Throughout the next steps make sure that you don't deselect your magic wand lines.

In the menu, change the distribution to Gaussian and then change the amount of noise to 5. Then click ok and save as a .gif file. Now go back to the image, undo the noise and then add it again as 10 and save that as a different .gif file. Repeat the process and change the noise once again to 15 and save afterwards. Now your done with the photoshop part. You should have 3 images each with a different noise amount.

Now open your animation program and open the 3 images (they should look like slides). Under the animation options make sure you check the boxes for Looping and Repeat Forever. Under the image options make the Duration (1/100 s): a 5. Now save as a gif and upload to an image hoster. The finished product should look like this:
