In this tutorial, you will learn how to make your own custom texture, and apply it to your images! =)
Step 1:Choose an image. I am going to use this one:
Step 2:At the top of your page, under the File button, there is a 'New' button.
OR CTRL+N.
Step 3:A window will pop up. Match your settings to mine and hit OK.
Step 4:Choose a color from the image that will be easy to see. I am going to choose a light color since the image is dark. (#ffefb6)
Step 5:In the middle of your mouse, there is a Scroll Wheel. Scroll until you make the image at a size of about 5000%. (You can see the size at the top of the image)
Step 6:On the side Tool Bar, there is a 'Paint Brush' tool.
Step 7:Now at the top of your screen, there is a box with an image in it.
Click it and look at the drop down list. You want to pick the SMALLEST dot there is.
Step 8:Make a diagonal line from one corner of the new image to the other with the 'Paint Brush' tool.
Step 9:At the top of your screen, go to Layers»New Raster Layer. Keep the default settings and hit OK.
Step 10:Under your Materials Panel on the right hand side of your screen, there is a drop down list. Choose the 'Pattern' button.
Step 11:A new window should pop up. Find your custom pattern in the drop down list.
Step 12:Click on your 'Flood Fill Tool' on the left.
Then, click anywhere inside of your new layer.
Step 13:Go to the Layers Panel on the right hand side of your screen. There is a small box that says 100%. This is called Opacity. Change the opacity to something were you can see the image again. I am going to change mine to 44% but you can use whatever looks best for you. =)
Step 14:Under your Layers Panel, right click on your image. Go to Merge»Merge All (Flatten).
Step 15:Go to File»Save Copy As and save your image. Make sure you save it as a .PNG!
This is the final product =)
